Before I begin writing the actual post, the title ‘Cauliflower – Not boring anymore’ might remind you of “Bitter Gourd – Not Bitter Anymore”. Well, I thought of doing a series where I will post some recipes with ingredients which are considered boring, uninteresting or not appetizing. So I have decided to post my successful experiments which will turn these boring, uninteresting or not appetizing into tasty, interesting and lip smacking appetizing. I tried this cauliflower recipe some weeks back and I have been meaning to post this recipe since then.
Many of my friends and relatives avoid this wonderful veggie only because it does not taste delicious. I am sure after trying out this successful experiment their views will surely turn. If you are one of them, then you will also start liking this amazing ingredient. Especially children will love it. Normally, in Indian homes, cauliflower is used to prepare a side dish which can be eaten with rotis or rice & dal. And it is made in different ways like dry sabji, sometimes in a saucy fashion or even combined with potatoes to prepare a more famous dish ….” Aloo Gobi”. ‘Gobi’ is the hindi way of calling cauliflower.
Coming back to the main topic, since cauliflower is always used to make side dishes in traditional homes, I experimented with this STAR Veggie to create an Appetizer dish. The outcome is simply mouth watering and delicious. Given a choice I would always love to recreate this dish and do some more experiments rather than just eating cauliflower side dish. As usual the cooking style – simple, easy and fast to cook yummy recipes was kept in mind. In fact the recipe has just three steps.
Cauliflower sliced in small sizes
Oil to stir fry
Cumin – coriander, turmeric, red chili powders, Chat Masala
Salt to taste
How it is done:
- Heat some oil in the pan and add the cauliflower. Remember to infuse more flavor in the cauliflower the trick is to cut it into small pieces. Stir fry the cauliflower.
- After it gains some colour, add the spices, chat masala and salt.
- Cover the pan with a lid so as to cook the cauliflower for a min or two and Serve Hot.
Thanks and keep experimenting… 🙂
